This weekend, enhance your Thanksgiving leftovers with Emmentaler AOP. We find the unique flavors of Emmentaler AOP cut through the familiar holiday flavors of a Thanksgiving feast and create a new and decadent experience.
Ingredients
Please include any combination of Thanksgiving leftovers that you think would go well
together. It’s a sandwich of Thanksgiving leftovers, after all! Ideas include:
- Turkey (ideally a combination of dark and white meat)
- Emmentaler AOP: two hardy slices per sandwich
- Stuffing
- Roasted vegetables: sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, parsnips, roasted carrots, msquash, and brussels sprouts (feel free to puree these if there are too many individual large pieces that could fall out of the sandwich)
- Cranberry sauce, or a cranberry jam
- Lettuce (optional for crunch)
- Bread: cranberry walnut bread is amazing, but also very dense. A nice sour dough loaf is ideal.
Preparation
- Place each bread slice on a cutting board, add cranberry sauce to one slice, and the softest ingredients (mashed potatoes, vegetable puree, etc.).
- Emmentaler AOP: add two hardy slices on top of the cranberry sauce slices. Set aside.
- Add firmer ingredients (stuffing, turkey) on top of the softer vegetables.
- Place optional lettuce slice on top of the softer vegetables.
- Top the sandwich with the slice of bread that has Emmentaler AOP/cranberry sauce.
Warm option: warm the turkey, stuffing, and vegetables in a mesh strainer over boiling water, a toaster oven or microwave could also work. Coat one side of each bread slice with butter. Prepare the sandwich per above instructions, then add to a sizzling pan over medium-low heat. Cover and cook for 2 minutes on each side, or until the cheese is softened without burning the bread.
